What's Coming Up

Sep 25 - Oct 7, 2009
Invited back to Tokyo to work with Hands On Tokyo and begin the re-design for Sai Sei Kai Hospital Nursery Project!

"We are so grateful to Lauren for the wonderful work she did on the Saiseikai playroom and garden renovation project in Tokyo. Her insights and solutions have made an immediate difference in the lives of the children there and will have an impact for many years to come. The children's caregivers say they already notice a difference in their own energy and well being when in the newly painted room. We look forward to having Lauren back to collaborate on future renovation projects involving children with special needs."

Autism At Home

Color and design affects everyone. We are all influenced every day by our surroundings. Think about it. Have you ever been inside a room before where you just felt on edge or anxious? I know I have.

I'm very aware of how my surroundings affect me. I know that I am most effective at work when I have good lighting and a tidy and organized desk. If my desk is cluttered and my lighting is bad, I have a hard time focusing and concentrating, which ultimately affects my output.

Kids are no different. Especially kids that have sensory issues such as those with autism or aspergers. The colors that you use to design any child's environment can have a major impact on their attitude and their behavior.

Lauren is an amazing artist and her knowledge of how color and environment affect a child is unsurpassed. Her skills and unique service will have a very positive and major impact on your child too. We are so blessed to have her share her knowledge with our readers every month.

Lauren on HGTV's "Kidspace" - Not Just Another Pretty Space

Many parents decorate their children’s rooms based on things like favorite hues or the patterns of bedding or window treatments. Mom and Dad may incorporate the child’s favorite colors, characters, or hobbies such as ballet or football. While this may seem like a practical way to go, at With a Brush of Love we know there’s more to your child’s environment than initially meets the eye.

Any artist worth their paintbrush can create a mural for a child’s room. But With a Brush of Love takes a uniquely personal approach. We begin with a one-on-one consultation targeted to best understand you and your child. Then we combine color and design to create original artwork that will complement his or her needs and personality. We will design something uniquely fun just for your child. With a Brush of Love is distinguished by our ability to create an atmosphere that encourages emotional harmony. Whether you want to create a calming sanctuary for your rambunctious two-year-old, a soothing environment for your newborn, or a cheerful and energizing learning space, With a Brush of Love has the experience and expertise to make this a reality. We are equipped to serve all children, and we work closely with a panel of specialists, such as speech pathologists, educational psychologists, and child psychiatrists, to make this happen for children with a range of special needs, such as ADD/ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities.

That’s why we say that With a Brush of Love’s customized, original designs are not just another pretty space. They are unique and engaging environments that support the emotional well-being of your child.

With a Brush of Love is proud to be endorsed by the Autism Society of America, the voice and resource of the Autism community. See our entry in the Autism Society of America’s online resource directory, the Autism Source.
